Are you a PROFESSIONAL makeup artist? What makes someone professional? It’s a title that many, if not most makeup artists use… but what does it really mean?
The dictionary definition says: “engaged in a specified activity as one’s main paid occupation rather than as a pastime”. Making this distinction between “occupation” and “hobby” is one thing, but I’m not sure I agree you need to be doing makeup as your “main paid occupation” to be professional.
The key here is not so much about whether you are full-time or not, or whether you earn more doing makeup than you do in your 9-5 job (if you have one), the point is, how you behave, and how you run your business.
In this video I share 3 factors that makeup artists should consider, when calling yourself a “professional”. This is by no means an exhaustive list, there are many more things that go into being a professional makeup artist.
I’d love to hear from you. Is there anything else you consider super important? Drop a comment down below.
